The last thing I contemplated leaving was the world of hip-hop. I grew up with NWA and the movement. Now, I see what that movement has produced and it saddens me to see it abused in such a way, that it almost disrespected the veterans who made all of this possible. There are so many one hit wonders in the world of hip-hop that it is truly amazing.
Nobody writes anything of use. Nobody creates their own beats, not sampling someone else’s stuff. Originality has gone out of the window and at the same time, the media and government look to these folks for guidance. Really? WTF?! I do not believe at all, that Jay-Z or Beyoncé can tell me anything unless it has to do with entertainment. Then we have the foolery and phukkery of Snoop Dogg, I can’t even deal with his foolishness. I have yet to see where he has done something that enhances the youth of today. I mean he coaches a football team in Cali, but on social media and his work it is all filth flarn filth.
This world was also my world, however, I have grown passed it. I even had to stop dealing with people I once knew in the business because it was leading down a path that is not made for me. Therefore, I left and have not looked back. I still listen at times to the older stuff, however the new music is so empty it just hurts my poor little brain.
Sound a little judgmental? I’ll accept that. 😉
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “If You Leave.”If You Leave
Life is a series of beginnings and endings. We leave one job to start another; we quit cities, countries, or continents for a fresh start; we leave lovers and begin new relationships. What was the last thing you contemplated leaving? What were the pros and cons? Have you made up your mind? What will you choose?
